Þórunn Ósk Marinósdóttir - violist Þórunn Ósk was born in Akureyri in 1971. She has been active on the solo and chamber music scene in Belgium and Iceland as well as being the principal viola of the string orchestra Sebastian Strings and the chamber orchestra Prima la Musica, performing with both throughout Europe. With them she also appeared as a soloist. She was a member of a string quartet which travelled with the famous Belgian dance company “Rosas” and later became a member of the Soloist ensemble I Fiamminghi, performing with them in Japan, Taiwan and Scandinavia, as well as in Belgium and the Netherlands.

In 1997 Þórunn was one of five finalists in the Icelandic National Radio Music Competition. She now serves as second principal viola of the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra and principalviola of the Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra with which she has also appeared as a soloist on several occasions, including a tour to Belgium and Russia with Vladimir Ashkenazy in 2003. Þórunn made her chamber music debut in 2003 at Lincoln Centre. Þórunn has appeared on numerous recordings with Prima La Musica, The Reykjavik Chamber Orchestra, Champs d’Actionand the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra.
